Compassion in World Farming

Campaigning for the rights of farmed animals throughout the world

Joanna Lumley is a major supporter of CIWF which helps to give it a high profile. Her many contributions include appearing on video films exposing the horrors of factory farming, which she does brilliantly, and coming to demonstrations.

In order to counteract the massively over-subsidised over-production in the farming industry the EU spends between £60 million and £100 million (of our money) annually to get rid of the surplus animals. We are unknowingly supporting a vile trade which brings only suffering and pain to sentient beings, animals who feel the same pain as our cats and dogs and even ourselves.

CIWF are asking everyone to write to the EU Agriculture Commissioner, Franz Fischler, at the European Commission, rue de la loi 200, 1049 Brussels, Belgium urging him to stop payment of these subsidies which support trade such as the trucking of cattle to the Lebanon where the animals throats are slit whilst they are fully conscious and they are left to bleed to death, in agony.

Please look at the image gallery in CIWF's dedicated web site. It will distress you enough to make you do something to help stop this trade.
